Cute, innocent, docile farm animals should not be subjected to cruel treatment and torture devices used at rodeos! The San Diego Padres baseball team has announced plans to host a rodeo by the notorious C5 Rodeo Company in PETCO Park in January 2024. This is unaccetable. There has not been such a cruel event in the City of San Diego since the 1980s, and never before at PETCO Park.
Stopping animal cruelty is a nonpartisan issue, but the mayor and city council of San Diego are all Democrats. They depend on the endorsement of the San Diego County Democratic Party in running for any local office. So, they should take heed of the below resolution I authored, which passed unanimously on October 17, 2023 at the full San Diego County Democratic Central Committee.
The Central Committee consists of elected representatives of each assembly district, as well as elected officials including Assemblyman David Alvarez, Senator Toni Atkins, Senator Catherine Blakespear, Assemblywoman Tasha Boerner, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, Assemblyman Brian Maeinschein, Congressman Scott Peters, Congressman Juan Vargas, County Supervisor Nora Vargas, Assemblywoman Akilah Weber, Secretary of State Shirley Weber, Assemblyman Chris Ward, and Councilwoman Vivian Moreno. Here is the resolution we passed unanimously:
